Macromedia Fireworks Tutorials >> Automation Tutorials >> Batch Processing

Step 6. Once you've added all files click the Next Button

Step 7. Next, select which tasks you want to run

Step 8. For this example we'll select: Export and Scale

Step 9. Click the Export task from the "Include In Batch" window.

Step 10. From the Settings drop down menu, select JPG Better Quality. This uses the default setting for JPG Better Quality. You can add your own custom settings by selecting Custom... from the drop down menu.

You can also click the Edit button to apply custom settings.

Step 11. Next, click the Scale option under the "Include In Batch" window.

Step 12. From the Scale drop down menu, select the type of scaling you want to apply. I'll use Scale to Percentage and input a value of %50.

Step 13. Click Next when you're satisfied with your settings.

Step 14. The final dialog box appears. Here you can tell Fireworks where to save the file.

Same Location as Original File will save the files in the same place as the original files. It will overwrite the original source files. I usually use this option BUT I use it with the next option: Backups.

Step 15. Backups is an option I stronly recommend using. It will put the source files in a new folder called Original Files.

You can also check Incremental Backups to save previous batch processes by adding a new number to each new backup.
