  1. This is a great effect for creating movie-like transitions from screen to screen.

Step 1: Getting Started

  1. Begin with an image or graphic on Layer 1
  2. Align the graphic with the stage by selecting it and entering 0 for BOTH the X and Y coordinate in the Info Panel
  3. Create a New Layer (Layer 2)
  4. Place another graphic or image on that layer (Layer 2)
  5. Create a New Layer (Layer 3) above Layer 2
  6. Right Click on Layer 3 and choose Mask from the drop down menu

Step 2: Creating the First Wipe

  1. On the Masking Layer (Layer 3), create a black rectangle that matches the same size as the graphics and stage.
  2. Create a Keyframe (F6) at Frame 10 on the Masking Layer (Layer 3).
  3. Add Frames (F5) to the other layers without adding keyframes.
  4. At Frame 10 on Layer 3, scale the rectangle to a width of 1 on the right side of the stage.
  5. Create a Shape Tween on layer 3 (motion or shape). I used shape since I didn't convert my rectangle to a graphic.
  6. Test your movie by dragging the red playhead back and forth. Be sure the top 2 layers (Layer 3 & Layer 2) are locked to preview the masking animation.
