Depth-of-Field:
Sharp From Stem To Stern When
most digital photographers stray from Auto or Program exposure
modes, it's usually to the Shutter-Preferred mode to better
stop action. As in conventional photography, too few apply
the Aperture-Preferred mode to achieve the control of Depth-of-Field. |
Minolta
Dimage: A Great Camera Flawed By Finder
Not
since the Nikon 950 was first rumored has the digital photography
world been so excited about a new camera. Six months of hype
from a few photos and a press release prepared us for the
Minolta Dimage 7, the SLR that would be king of prosumer cameras. |
Run
for Cover
Megapixels have been
ricocheting for the last few weeks as digital camera manufacturers
ramp up their resolution. |
Still
Image As A Symbol
Nothing
shocks me as much about the World Trade Center footage as
a single frame, excerpted in my mind. It is the image of the
South Tower. |
Some
Tool Time Thoughts
In
my travel writing activities, I use my digital camera as a
visual notebook, dropping the resolution down to Basic and
shooting anything... |
Why
We Hate Bright Sunlight
Consider
the LCD, with us since the first digital camera. Tiny, wonderful
window that makes our cameras a combination Linhof-Leica. |
Eyes
Of Texas
Dave
Huss is familiar to the thousands of readers of his Graphically
Speaking column on the old i-us website which appeared weekly
for nearly three years. |

When
our Singapore-based daughter scheduled her wedding for Bastille
Day in New York's Hudson Valley AND MacWorld Expo was set
for July 18 in the Big Apple, we decided to go (to MWExpo). |
More
Complex Distortions
The
city and countryside of Chartres, France, are dominated by
the magnificent cathedral. Visible from 15 miles away, the
cathedral grows taller with each step closer one takes. |
Simple
Distortion Corrections
As
a photojournalist, I've always been partial to my "normal"
lens: the wide angle. Now, as a digital photo journalist,
my wide angle attachment stays on my camera about 80 percent
of the time. |
